As temperatures drop and seasons shift, fall and winter present the perfect opportunity for renewal and self-care, particularly when addressing your skin’s changing needs during these cooler months.
Nestled within the award-winning Pearl Hotel, Spa Pearl stands as 30A’s premier choice for luxury spa treatments (note: you don’t need to be a hotel guest to book services, though advance reservations are recommended). With a distinctive blend of experiences that incorporate invigorating and therapeutic oceanic elements, the poolside Spa Pearl provides an intimate spa experience with services that fittingly incorporate the healing powers of the pearl gemstone itself.
In addition to the unparalleled level of service for which The Pearl Hotel has long been known, guests of the 30A spa will also enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling wine upon arrival; access to the hotel’s private, adults-only pool and hot tub an hour before and after their spa treatment; the best professional spa products on the market; and plentiful relaxation, of course.
Ready to fall in love with your best skin yet? We sat down with Spa Pearl’s manager, Pamela Herman, to learn what treatments she recommends sticking to during cooler seasons.

What treatments are ideal for the fall and winter months?
During this time of year, body treatments, like scrubs, are essential. Spa Pearl’s full-body treatments incorporate products that help scrub off the dryness and dullness caused by the summer sun and deeply hydrates the skin, leaving guests feeling renewed and refreshed. To complement the spirit of the season, guests have their choice of choosing a cranberry or chocolate-mint option for their scrub.
What products do you recommend for the cooler months?
Any product that helps detox and/or moisturize the skin are essential. With these needs in mind, Spa Pearl carries some great lines, including HydroPeptide, a potent peptide-packed product that can be personalized for all skin types, ages and needs, which can be incorporated into any of the facial treatments we offer.
Our spa shop also carries Wild Ice Botanicals, a line of cold-preserved natural-based skincare. My favorites include the 7 Winters Collagen Serum, which is great for plumping up skin elasticity; the Wintry Fix, a wonderfully gentle scrub that helps fluff off dry winter skin; and the Yuki-Onna facial mask for a brightening boost. All of these can be purchased at Spa Pearl, and our estheticians can provide you with product recommendations specific to your skin’s needs.
What differentiates the Spa Pearl experience?
Our spa maintains the same level of personalized, boutique-style service for which The Pearl has long been synonymous, and our team truly goes out of our way to make each guest feel comfortable, relaxed and pampered. We believe that every guest’s experience should be special, and we’re proud to be able to provide that thanks to a peaceful atmosphere.
What should guests know and do before booking a service?
We ask that guests please try to book their visits two weeks in advance, as we book up very quickly. Appointments can be made online or by calling us at (850) 460-9041. We also recommend that guests drink plenty of water before their appointment and arrive 10 minutes early to check in.

Spa Pearl is open daily, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note seasonal hours may vary. Appointments are highly recommended. Please call (850) 460-9041 to arrange your spa treatment or to inquire about customized packages.

Located in South Walton’s West Indies-inspired coastal community of Rosemary Beach®, The Pearl Hotel envelops guests in a thoughtfully curated experience inspired by the warmth and elegance of Old Town Havana. The storied destination’s Old World charm and laidback sophistication permeates the hotel’s common areas and guest rooms, and a signature scent – aptly called “Pearl Bliss” – notably helps transport guests to the Havana of yesteryears.
Created in partnership with Pish Posh Patchouli’s, a local Rosemary Beach merchant specializing in hand-crafted body and skin care, “Pearl Bliss” draws from the richly exotic scents of spiced tonka bean, tobacco bay leaf and vetiver – all notes influenced by Old Town Havana. Notably, the rich scent is perfectly balanced, without being overly feminine or masculine (an important distinction in hotel amenities).
While The Pearl had long been providing guests with elevated bath amenities, none of them had felt inspired or aligned with the boutique hotel’s distinct guest experience.
The Pearl’s exclusive “Pearl Bliss” line by Pish Posh Patchouli’s includes a shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, body and face lotion, after-sun body serum and bar soap – all natural and plant-based, free of parabens and animal cruelty-free. The scent has become so iconic for The Pearl that even passersby who stop by the lobby to use the hotel’s public restrooms ask where they can purchase the soap and lotion.
“For The Pearl, this signature scent is another aspect of providing the world-class guest experience for which the hotel has long been known. But Pearl Bliss is also a testament to our Rosemary Beach community and the local gems in our corner of paradise. We’re delighted about this partnership and excited by how much guests have enjoyed this detail.” – Lucas Sneddon, Assistant General Manager
“Pearl Bliss” products can be purchased at The Pearl’s Spa Pearl and at Pish Posh Patchouli’s, located just footsteps away from The Pearl, within the Rosemary Beach Town Center.

Winter in Northwest Florida means trading in your snow shovel for a different kind of white backdrop: our sugar-white beaches, that is! With milder weather, fewer crowds and the festive spirit of the season, there’s even more reason to celebrate during the winter months – and plenty of ways to stay warm while you do.
Here are our top picks for warming up and cozying up to enjoy a winter wonderland in true 30A style!

A Beachside Bonfire
Guests of WaterColor Inn can reserve two hours of bonfire fun for up to 30 guests – complete with beach chairs, bottled water and all of the fixings for s’mores. The expertly set-up bonfire experience, which can be set up before or after sunset, takes place behind the WaterColor Beach Club and provides a laidback and fun way to cozy up with the beach during the cooler winter months. Outdoor game packages and food-and-beverage amenities can also be added for an additional fee.
A Hot Stone Massage
Experience a hot stone massage at Spa Pearl at The Pearl Hotel and melt your winter blues away. Within four private poolside treatment rooms, men and women enjoy facials, signature body treatments and massages that incorporate invigorating and therapeutic oceanic elements. Better yet? All spa bookings receive complimentary access to The Pearl Hotel’s heated adults-only pool – and we can’t quite picture a winter day more relaxing than that.

A Swim in the Pool
The winter months won’t keep us away from the water – the pool water, that is! And because all of our pools at WaterColor Inn and The Pearl Hotel are heated, our guests can enjoy a leisurely swim year-round. Not to mention, WaterColor Inn now has a new 2,800-square-foot zero-entry family pool, complete with whirlpool bench and hydro jets. We think there’s nothing quite as invigorating like a warm winter dip!
A Walk on the Beach
Never underestimate the simple, heart-warming pleasure of taking a stroll on the beach. Throw on your favorite hoodie (we have a preference for this super cozy WaterColor Shop sweatshirt) and head Gulf-side to take in a picturesque winter sunset or bask in the stunning display of stars that light up our coastal sky.

A Walk on the Wild Side
Explore South Walton’s varied landscapes with a brisk hike or bike ride through Point Washington State Forest. Guests of The Lodge 30A can conveniently access the trailhead from the hotel, enjoy complimentary bikes on the forest trails or along the paved Timpoochee Trail, and take advantage of discounted pricing on rentals at nearby YOLO Board & Bike.
A Seafood Feast with a View
Winter months are still perfect for enjoying freshly caught seafood just footsteps away from the Gulf. And cooler weather doesn’t mean forgoing the view either! Take it in indoors at Fish Out of Water, where every seat is the best in the house and every dish boasts the Gulf’s most delicious seasonal flavors.

A Fresh Cup of Hot Coffee
Load up on some extra fuel at Scratch Biscuit Kitchen, where you’ll find plenty of coffee flowing, thanks to the restaurant’s daily selections of its own signature blend. Consider yourself a die-hard coffee enthusiast well beyond the winter months? Join Scratch’s “Mug Club” to receive your own Scratch “Mug Club”-branded mug and $1 unlimited coffee (cheers to that!).
A Tropics-Inspired Happy Hour
Retreat to the Havana Beach Lounge, an intimate tropical hideaway nestled within The Pearl Hotel’s Havana Beach Bar & Grill, to enjoy a menu of small plates, pre-dinner cocktails or both. Bold, tropical prints and a lively Havana-inspired theme are surely to warm up your evening.

We might be biased, but we can’t picture a more cheerful way to spend the holidays than with the backdrop of our sugar-white sand (our much nicer version of snow) and the cooler coastal weather that seems to make every sunset just that much brighter. Besides, with fewer crowds, it feels like we have every inch of the stunning Gulf Coast for ourselves.
It’s undeniable: the holidays bring a bounty of good cheer to Northwest Florida, but if you’re looking for even more reasons to book your winter today, here are a few:
Lower Rates
Lock in the best rates of the year when you stay at WaterColor Inn, The Pearl Hotel or The Lodge 30A during the winter and holiday months. Looking for the ultimate home-away-from home experience? Settle into comfort at The Lodge 30A and cash in on the extra savings when you book an extended stay.
30A in Lights
Experience a coastal winter wonderland as you stroll, drive or bike through the beautiful holiday decorations along Scenic Highway 30A, through WaterColor and into the Rosemary Beach town square. The only downside might be the number of times you’ll be compelled to stop for a magical photo.
Festive Events
‘Tis the season to gather with loved ones and celebrate – and we know how to do just that. Each year, WaterColor Inn, The Pearl Hotel and their acclaimed restaurants, Fish Out of Water and Havana Beach Bar & Grill, get into the spirit of the season with a variety of festive holiday-themed events for the whole family, taking place in December.
Fuss-Free Family Time

With so much to choose from – and fewer crowds to share it all with – you’ll find something everyone can enjoy.

There’s perhaps no artist more synonymous with South Walton than Justin Gaffrey, whose richly textured paintings colorfully depict the area’s distinct coastal landscape and wildlife.
At WaterColor Inn, Justin’s iconic artwork is displayed throughout the lobby, common areas and at Fish Out of Water, adding both interest and beauty, as well as a sense of place. The boutique hotel first commissioned Justin’s works shortly after its opening in 2012, where they have become décor staples and beloved pieces by adoring guests.
Justin’s first artwork for WaterColor Inn was that of the area’s dunes, complete with dancing sea oats – a landscape he hadn’t yet attempted to capture. Drawing inspiration from his grandmother’s coastal artwork but veering away from a traditional seascape depiction, his resulted in coastal-inspired paintings that are as rich and layered as they are simple and soothing. The rest, as they say, is history.

To date, WaterColor Inn has featured more than 70 works by the lauded artist, including custom pieces that depict whimsical compositions of animals and florals in Justin’s beloved style, which now line the hallway leading to the hotel’s Family Suites. Additionally, exclusive Justin Gaffrey designs were recently featured on a limited line of WaterColor-branded t-shirts that have since sold out.
All of Justin’s featured work is available for sale, meaning that guests of WaterColor Inn not only get a “first look” at one-of-a-kind pieces but also the opportunity to own one! Simply scan the code that accompanies each painting for more details, or head to JustinGaffrey.com to see available works for purchase.

“Much like WaterColor, Justin’s works draw their inspiration from nature, and many of his pieces highlight our natural dune lakes, local animals and southern whimsy, making him the ideal artist to partner with our resort,” says Gabrielle Testa, WaterColor Inn’s General Manager. “I particularly love his variation in colors, ideas and thoughts and think that’s what inspires our guests, too.”
Justin credits WaterColor’s pristine natural beauty, including the serenity and lushness of nearby Western Lake, with inspiring the acrylic works that now hang around WaterColor Inn and its award-winning Fish Out of Water restaurant. To that effect, he encourages guests to take in the paintings wholistically and not be afraid to touch them, as their palpability is part of their distinct appeal.
As a professional, self-taught artist since 2001, Justin’s heavy-textured, sculptural painting style was first inspired by Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and “Sunflowers.” His striking works, which consistently convey the connection between nature and human nature, are staged on wooden canvases handmade at his studio on 30A.
Beckoned by South Walton’s beauty, laidback lifestyle and budding culture, Justin first relocated to the 30A area in 1988 as a then chef, ultimately opening his own restaurant before turning 30. In 2001, when he set out to pursue art full-time, Northwest Florida provided the landscape against which to create freely, raise a family and operate a successful art gallery, which today serves as a must-visit destination in its own right.
In addition to being a prolific artist, Justin also produces Gaffrey Art Material, his proprietary line of heavy-body texture acrylics, thus empowering a new generation of self-made artists along the way.
Admire Justin’s work during your next WaterColor Inn stay – and tag @watercolorinn #watercolorfl on your photos of your favorites. And be sure to stop by his gallery in Santa Rosa Beach, where you’ll find him painting every day. Justin also hosts ongoing gallery events and shares his love for all things art, including tutorials and demos, on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.
